Andrew Santino announces new golf show with funny video featuring major champion
Andrew Santino is one of the funniest people on the planet. He also happens to be one of the best celebrity golfers around. So, it's not too surprising that the comedian/podcaster/actor's next venture involves his love of golf.
We profiled Santino in Golf Digest last year, and the guy is a legit low-handicapper who travels around the world with his golf clubs. Santino told us about a special Scotland golf trip he made last summer as well as playing with Zac Efron at Australia's ultra-private Capital Golf Club while filming the movie "Ricky Stanicky."
A new video Santino shared on Thursday, however, shows Santino getting denied from a "fancy private club where famous people who play golf, golf." But also taking a large telephone book of "Famous Guys Who Golf" from the security guard. Santino then flips through the book and calls Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau to see if they'll come on his new golf show/podcast called "No Bad Lies," but he only gets their (fake) voicemails.
However, another major champ, Cam Smith, picks up, and, well, we won't spoil the ending. Instead, check out the entire video here:
That's a great kicker with Phil Mickelson. And like Smith says, the whole bad lies premise puts an interesting spin on the tried-and-true course interview format. Heck, Santino did an entertaining one with our Hally Leadbetter for an episode of Golf Digest's "On The Tee":
Anyway, Santino's show premiers April 9. And it appears he did nail down DJ and Bryson as guests so far as well.
If it's anything like Santino's popular "Whiskey Ginger" and "Bad Friends" podcasts, golf fans are in for a treat. And at the very least, he'll come away with some great golf tips from some of the game's best players. Smart move, Andrew.
